Past Regret I'm drawn to unique situations the average person pays little or no attention to in real life. But when this situation is viewed as a photograph, people find it interesting. For example, the photograph of two men on the beach who are mutually unaware of their similar postures and hand gestures behind their backs. It highlights an interesting aspect of human behaviour that is both touching in its familiarity and similarity, and humorous in its quirkiness. I shoot anything that remotely affects me. It's all instinct really. It's impossible to put into words. These shots mean a lot. For me, they were quite experimental in that I had never been travelling for such a long period of time without the safety of a digital camera. I shot all of my photos on 35mm and medium format film. Further still, most of it was expired film. So it was risky. But thankfully they came out well. More importantly though, regardless of the format, they are very personal. A diary of a small but intimate time in my life and a documentation of the people I interacted with in a short period of time. Life is so short, and I want to show the beauty of everyday people in everyday life. I appreciate all my experiences with everyone. |
