over time the memory fades The shots I’ve included are from 3 different type of shoots. One is an abandoned house. I entered the property and was overwhelmed at how great a house it must have been. How big a family had to have lived there. And now... just bits remain of this former life. Then there are the faux flowers on graves. Most cemeteries do not allow them. They blow around and take forever to decay. If mowed they just get smaller. So it's a bit of a rarity to find ones that have been around more than a season. But when I do; they’re wonderful. Such texture and colour. They are robust and I never get tired of them. Lastly I present a few toys found on the graves of children. These are very rare items. I find one doll or plush on one grave in every five cemeteries. Currently I have just over 70 in my series. These are rare for many reasons, but I am forever fascinated and left to wonder why they were left there, forever. They are a singular moment in a family’s life. And they hold a bit of morbid irony; they are cute and left rotting. |
