I've got wild staring eyes

In the beginning I shot abandoned barns and nature. Not much has changed really. I continue to shoot abandonment and nature in transition. But the focus has changed. I used to shoot big picture things. Those photos meant something to me. But just me. They were about that day and that shoot, about how I felt with that particular find. They were too broad and too pedestrian. Anyone could have shot those things and it looked just like anyone had. Slowly I started migrating to macro shots. I enjoyed the limitations. It turned a big club into a finely honed scalpel. It makes me think: “what’s important here? What one thing can I look at in 5mm that is the entirety of this location?” After a while it fell into place. Now I doubt I spend more than an hour at even the most complex location. Granted digital allows me to not be conservative with the frames I rattle off. But I don’t bracket, I don’t meter. I take what looks good in my mind.

My work is gallery and collector focused. I do some commercial work on occasion, but mainly try to stay a float being an artist.
