This project was my way of stepping out of my comfort zone. I've gotten
so used to being a fly on the wall, capturing moments and faces without
getting noticed most of the time, avoiding actual contact from my
subjects. Getting a good portrait from a total stranger within seconds
is a challenge. I've always wanted to be a portraitist... and this
project gave me an avenue to transition from shooting candids to shoot
portraits. In the process, I'm able to show in a very subtle way, the
character of each stranger just by looking at their face, knowing that
they were secure and broad-minded enough to the idea of having a total
stranger take their portrait in the streets.
