Right now my day-to-day work is
primarily design work for corporate communications, not so many
opportunities for art direction or styling these days... original
shoots are not even a weekly event. Clients have difficulty grasping
the benefits of original imagery over stock. Stock does have a place in
design, but clients who sell themselves based on their own unique
merits (and not simply on price point) should understand that stock
will never tell their story in a compelling way.
Ideally I would like to get to the
point where I spend a greater amount of time generating those
compelling images for corporate and fashion clients, and a smaller
amount of time designing the settings for those images. Until then
I am going to keep creating images in all my spare moments, as well as
network with other creative people at every opportunity. It's great for
Fred and I to have access to each other, but we both welcome the fresh
element that working with other personalities brings to a shoot.
