Bolivia was at one time the main
source of silver for the Spanish
empire, our legacy is intertwined with that of the Tiawanacu and Inca
cultures, the resulting mix gave birth to amazing craftsmanship with a
very unique character in many areas, the silver and goldsmiths, weavers
and tailors, leather workers and wood carvers create items of unusual
beauty, popular expressions in music and dancing with intricate
costumes and ample symbolism are a constant feature in an ever changing
landscape that drops from the heights of the Andes to the tropical
jungles of the Amazon.
I intend to rescue as much as I can from our mixed heritage, through the study of the ancient techniques, patterns, weaves and technologies of our ancient legacy combining the old and the new, tradition and legend with modern innovation. |
