It may sound very bitter: but only do photography if you really truly love it. Because it will get very, very hard at times. You probably won’t make a lot of money. It will be stressful, and at times it’s very much a job where you are wearing your heart on your sleeve. Plans frequently fall through, images get rejected... I’m sure even now, people are reading what I’m saying and looking at my images and not liking them at all, but that’s a risk you, and I, have to take.
I know that every job is hard work, but it’s not all unicorns and puppies and running around taking cool pictures all the time, sometimes your heart gets really broken. I’m sure if anyone had told me this when I was very young and just starting out, I absolutely would not have listened. If you’re sitting there thinking “I don’t care! I’m doing this!” Do it. Because, like me, there is probably no stopping you, so go ahead and do what you love.
