Now to the snake: The Celts thought the snake was a symbol of secret knowledge because it hides medical solutions through its poison for example, and transformation because it sheds its old skin.

Disappearing in colder months and summoned by the sun marks, the snake’s connection is to the shadow worlds. Very much like me, snakes are successfully able to live within the dark realms for periods of time. Alternatively, the snake softly moves into the embrace of the sun. A transition I longed for at the time I drew this portrait.
The snakes’ symbolic meaning of transformation comes from the shedding of its skin. The snake is leaving its skin behind, and emerging as a newer, stronger version. To me personally, it’s a symbol of renewal, very much like the butterflies that appear all over the drawing, because of the impressive process of metamorphosis this tiny creature undergoes.

Imagine the whole of your life changing to such an extreme you are unrecognizable at the end of the transformation. My change took place in a short span of about a month (that’s how long the butterfly life cycle is).

"The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough."   ~  Rabindranath Tagore

The hummingbird in the upper left corner symbolizes the nectar or joy of life.
This spectacular bird is a symbol for accomplishing the impossible and will teach you how to find the miracle of joyful living from your own life’s circumstances. To me personally, I guess it represents pure blues power, to gain energy out of a miserable situation. Wishful thinking at the time I drew this, I wasn’t out of the black box at that point.
