I'm interested in how people look at naked photos; almost always covertly or with the caveat "oh it's art", but that's not it, is it, it's a photograph of a naked person. I'd like my work to look back at the viewer, to make them aware of what they are doing. For every surreptitious glance for pleasure I want an unsettling element, be it a stare or concept.

Don't be afraid of failure. Fail better as they say Samuel Beckett said. Look at the mistakes and accidents because these hold keys to breaking out of your self-constrained style; a style really being a comfort zone.

Keep a notebook. Be nice, the world is a small place. Keep documentation of your work, the digital era is leading to a possible lack of personalisation in reference material.

Flamingoes

I imagine flamingoes are rather vain, preening and bitching like footballer's wives. Rather than directing models I let three friends spend the afternoon smoking, drinking, gossiping, naked.
