Were you always interested in what you shoot now?

I tend to get bored rather quickly. I started out as a street photographer, because it was something new and different every day, conditions, environment, people. I need a challenge to be creative, otherwise I get stale. So I do a lot of different things.

I think one thing wrong with the professional photography industry right now is that you have to pigenhole yourself as a photographer who does _____. And that is all you do. “I shoot artificial light studio macro shots of snails and various invertebrates.” Oh, cool, can you shoot some spiders outside for us? “No, can’t do that.”

I shoot automotive, portraits, and some great travel stuff, but getting people to realize that is near impossible when you are known for one specific thing.
