I published a couple of books, which is great for the ego, but no way to make a living. Then I fell into doing stock photography by accident, and it turned out to be a good fit for me. I  go anywhere I want, travel all over the world and shoot anything I feel like shooting. I come home, retouch the hell out of everything,  give it to my stock agency - Getty Images - and they sell it for enough that I don't have to do anything else. It's a precarious business, because your royalty check can be a zillion dollars one month and nothing the next, but on the whole it's averaged out to be pretty good for me.
