I've upgraded from my
little 4
megapixel point and shoot many times
since starting out. I shoot both film and digital and I've added
various
lighting and studio tools. All of that can definitely help with
bringing an envisioned image to life but sometimes I think too much
focus is placed on equipment, and young photographers starting out
often feel the pressure to acquire expensive, professional gear (which
is ultimately replaced in the market by newer, shinier gear in a year
or less). The gear-game can be a distraction. A camera doesn't define a
photographer. I think it's important to shoot what you're compelled to shoot. I'm truly impressed and inspired by photographers who always manage to convey their passion through their work, regardless of what it is they're shooting, or what they're shooting with. I aspire to be that artist. |
