These photographs are from "The Arc". It's an installation consisting of 100 portraits with eyes closed. I searched for people who didn’t feel good, who where in a stressed state of mind. There is a daily struggle for many things which causes a lot of stress, I call this stress `suffering`. You can see The Ark as a sort of photo-therapy. I wanted to offer the models time to come to themselves, I tried to let them make a sort of utopia, a moment of being in paradise, a moment in eternity. They had to return in a state of rest again, in a balanced life. The portraits create an image of intense sleep, close to death. Before the death of the individual they can experience, for a moment, the rest brought by death. |
