These pieces are obviously very personal. They’re expressing the two sides of me. A dark side, and a more whimsical one. Yes, whimsical, childish, fresh and colourful, that’s how people describe my illustrations for children. For a long time, I wanted to have only one style, only one way of drawing. Lately I realized that is impossible for me. I lived painful moments in my life, my emotions are very strong, both in the good way and the bad one. Sometimes I have that depressive mood that we all hate. So these drawings, even if they seem to be very different, are a part of me, between the light and the darkness. Sometimes I think I’m between an illustrator and a painter. An illustrator for all the commissioned things and the commercial side of it, and a painter for the internal feelings that sometimes lead you to create something visceral.
