Three Hot Irons (2003) |
Your new work, especially the
vintage
irons, seems to be a continuation of that great steam of New York Dada
begun by Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp, were you thinking of Dada when you
started the sculptures? I wasn't thinking of Dada when I started the sculptures but I do love the works of Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp. As an example, when I made the sculptures I wanted to feel good looking at irons and seeing a story unfold on them. I start with a concept and create an object for it. Sometimes I start with the object and the photography it needs becomes clear. In my creative process, the more clearly I visualize an idea the better my results. |
