When you shoot fashion the focus should be on the clothes and the photographer should bring out the best or most attractive parts of the outfit. A beauty shoot should bring out the best of the makeup and face while in lifestyle shoots the focus is on the subject and should reflect his being. Unfortunately a lot of photographers nowadays seem to forget these basic rules in their attempt to create artistic shots where the priority is on lighting, composition and  the mood of the overall image. A good photographer should combine his style and artistry with what the the focus should be.

Another tendency on the local market that I noticed lately is the sloppiness induced by digital photography. Not only more and more photographers tend to say "We can fix that in photoshop", but even models don't take care of themselves as used to be... As an old school photographer, having completely shifted to digital photography 2 years ago, I still shoot for the image. In this Black Magic Woman shoot, none of the photographs were touched in photoshop other then to save it for the web.
