I advise my assistants, and any new photographers to learn the basics, and forget buying “things” (lights and the latest and greatest cameras). Listen to the more experienced and if you have the chance, take classes.  Business-wise, minimize capital expenditure, do a lot, focus on being seen and never over-promise.


Under-promise, over-deliver, then you will have sustainable returning customers.
