The model in this photograph is
demonstrating for us one of most
important rules of female figure photography, the S-curve. Note the
line through her chest, hips and left leg. This sinuous line is
mirrored in the land-form behind her.
What makes this pose amazing is that at the same time the model also shows us the rod. Note the energy shooting straight up through the model from the ground to the empty sky. The finger, arms, hips and the right leg are aligned perfectly in agreement with gravity. Note that Brito has also placed the model in the centre of the image, at the position of maximum energy. This placement of the pose equidistant from the edges of the frame and from the two land forms in front and behind creates the triangle. The triangle gives this image stablity, rooting the model and creating the base from which the rod directs the energy. The Rule of Thirds Assignment: Comment on the rule of thirds as it relates to the horizon line in an image. |
