My commercial practice is primarily video-based. I write, direct, edit and increasingly shoot now that HD cameras like the Canon XHA1 are affordable and sufficient for industrial work. We create corporate marketing pieces using customer testimonials and field footage shot primarily in Alaska and the Northwest.

I'm incredibly lucky because I have a great long-term relationship with a privately-held transportation company that is innovative, loyal and willing to pay fairly for exceptional service. I get paid to go do stuff like stand on a frozen lake in Western Alaska and film a C-130 landing on the lake.

I often use a DP who has a Panasonic Varicam that I've worked with for over 15 years. We're like brothers and between us we have the experience to handle just about anything. For post, I do everything. My client does a final critique and the work gets distributed. Pretty lean.

I have to say, I don't really know much about the competitive landscape out there. We've always worked incredibly hard to get and retain clients and to just keep our heads down otherwise.

Point No Point
