The best thing that happened to me was that early on I went to work for a guy who treated the clients like idiots and was always trying to figure out how cheaply we could do everything. Consequently, I ended up as an account manager, script writer, photographer and audio guy. Not because I knew anything about any of it besides the photography, but because he was too cheap to hire people that actually knew what they were doing. So I learned how to do everything and I also learned the value of not pissing off a client because we lost them nearly on a daily basis by my boss doing just that.
