Klaus Thymann: next page
Klaus is self taught, having entered the field from a background in drawing and painting, he went on to use black and white photography as a canvas to paint over.

Through experimentation he began to discover more possibilities and started shooting for newspapers and magazines so that by the time he graduated school he was making a living as a photographer.

"Over the years I've experimented a lot trying to find out what I like and don't like. I am now at a stage where I have a style, which I think is recognizable. That doesn't mean that I stop experimenting, more the contrary, but I venture out of new avenues with a confidence that I think shows in the work.

I started with a few elements and then gradually added on, that way it was possible for me to teach myself. I have been reading the manuals for all the kit I use so that was the technical side taken care of.

The creative side of things is a different matter. I find inspiration in so many places that it's not really possible to decipher, but most inspiration comes from non-visual media. I read a lot, and general curiosity also helps."
