I always swore I'd never shoot fashion, people or beauty..... I can only say, how wrong was I!!

I shoot Fashion, Beauty, Advertising and Portraiture. I think you need a great eye for asthetics and also for the beauty of the face. It takes time to see angles of the face and body, to know how they work for each subject and to remember they are individual and unique.

I believe entirely in the team approach and feel that without it, there is no real beauty. I know what I do but I still learn. I trust in my Stylist, Make Up artist and Hair Stylist to see things in what they do and advise me. I trust in their eyes and know that they may see something I don't, and that may create the perfect image. We're just not capable of seeing everything that is possible and working with great people who you trust, simply helps to create beautiful work.

I love a shoot to be enjoyable, for the subject, model and team to have fun and smile! Seems that at times, it's all a little too serious for its own good. Much easier to take a moody picture by creating it with happy people that to try and make a lot of pissed off people work well.

I think another truly important skill is, when shooting for clients, to be able to interpret their ideas and shoot as they require. Doesn't mean that you don't have your stamp on it, just that you have a facility to create something from their imagination as opposed to your own. If you're given free reign or it's your own work, then make it in the way you want and never be afraid to get it wrong. Sometimes things just go wrong, it's having skill and imagination that will make it go right again.
