Much of what I know now is self taught. Reading, trying, failing and making mistakes. Then once I got it working, learning new and different ways to get the same results or perfect the ones I had. I was taught by one specific guy and still carry the lessons I learnt to this day.

I never shoot colour negative, only transparency. I still believe if you know how to light and meter, you can achieve pretty much anything with transparency and negative is just an excuse for metering badly. What most people never realise is that digital is just as hard to work with as transparency and if you can shoot with one, the other becomes much easier.

I also shoot black and white negative and think when used for the right things, it is beautiful. The other thing I love is 5x4 and 5x4 polaroid. Something about the feel and look of it. You can almost see it breath with life.
