I'm working with Jade Howe right now, who was the creator of HIC (Hawaiian Island Creations), and one of the originators of Billabong, Hurley, Quicksilver and other surf-oriented brands.  He remains one of the driving forces behind men's fashion in Orange County and to some extent in LA.  his current line is Howe Homme, and is aimed at the indie executive, really fantastic stuff. I also do work with Paul Frank and a fairly new women's jean line, MeliMelo.

I definitely want what every fashion photographer wants, to be shooting the huge campaigns.  My current plan of action is focused on getting more editorial work, which will hopefully lead to more advertising work.

To shoot, I usually get the team together, and I try to have some say about the model, though the client usually has last word on that. I like to work with a certain core group of people, just for the sake of having a great vibe on set. I have a short list of makeup and hair people who are incredibly talented. We all know each other and know what exactly is expected of us. This way, pressure on set is curbed and everyone is happier, the mood is a lot lighter, which is how I like things to run.  I like to have fun on set as much as possible.

For new photographers, I recommend getting better at the business end of photography. Talent is only 10% of the pie, you need to be a good marketing and sales person in order to be truly successful in this business. To prospective clients, I'd say give the new talent a chance to show our stuff. Take a chance on the new guy, you just may be surprised.
