I am really inspired by natural light and reflection. Morning light is
one of my favourites and before this particular shoot I’ve never
experienced that kind of lighting before. Every shot here needed to have some sort of weird or interesting light on the model or an interesting reflection. Some of them are darker which for me was not a problem it was actually what I wanted so you could really see where the light was hitting the model’s body. I always do a moodboard to help the whole team get an idea of what I want, but obviously a lot changes the day of the shoot. Summertime Sadness was my last summer in Montreal and I was leaving soon for London. That’s why I chose this name. Before leaving Montreal I wanted to do something beautiful and not too colourful like I’m used to doing. I needed something a bit more grown up in a way because soon I would have to start a new chapter in my life. Evelyne Marcoux (the model) worked with me last year. I wanted to work with her again and do something better than last time to really show her in the best way possible because she has a lot of talent and she understands really quickly what you want. People always ask me to describe my style and I still can’t answer them. Like I say, the only thing I can answer is that I won’t get tired of natural light because you can explore so much with it. I am trying my best to do different types of work to really see where I fit in the best. As for giving advice, being a young photographer myself, I’m probably the one who needs advice! |
