Exhibition Image Descriptions (Winter Aerial Images):

Hanging from a light aeroplane, Bernhard shot vertically down - facing nature, and gravity, head on.

Falling was not the biggest challenge he encountered tough. It was the biting -20 C temperature; cold enough to cause serious frostbite in minutes. But that's what it took to deliver on his concept, so that's what he did. Bringing a graphic aerial image to life in the most honest way he possibly could.

The originial concept, a graphic aerial view of skiers and ski-lifts, was rapidly reworked as the clouds parted and nature presented the opportunity of something truly  unexpected. As a result, the image presents a dream-like quality almost impossible to recreate or manufacture.
