Nearly four years on, having reached almost complete intellectual and physical exhaustion, I dug up my camera and decided it was time to finally do something for myself. Thanks to the internet I found that many young and inspiring photographers had emerged. Their work and success motivated me but I needed the constant encouragement from my husband, who made me believe that I too could get there and that it was not too late for me.

I also realised that merely playing with perspective and angles didn't entirely satisfy me artistically. I wanted to produce some kind of visual and intellectual product that conveyed something other than a mere image. In this respect, I was lucky to have a literary background as all the books, the stories and the poems that I had read served as inspiration.
