A digital, fake ambrotype doesn't allow anyone to hold a fragile OBJECT in the hand, observe the depth and exceptional sharpness and purity of the image, it doesn't allow the wonders of discovering miraculously well placed flaws and most of all, it doesn't allow the passion of doing it over and over again until it's perfect. Getting as close as this to the object you create, is a craftman's pleasure. Doing it as an artwork of course asks something else. It is a wonderful and multiple tool; wet plate collodion negatives are the source of many beautiful sharp prints. Along with many of the other amazing photographic processes, Ambrotypes are magic, these objects are photographs, sculptures and paintings.
