Most of the photographs in this series envision constellations, using objects that relate to the myths that underlie their identities. For instance, the constellation Andromeda derives from a story of a beautiful princess who was chained to a rock to placate the sea monster Ortus who threatened the kingdom. At the last moment she was rescued by Perseus and placed with him in the sky for all time. To capture the essence of the tale, I froze a piece of chain in a disk of ice along with an old photograph of a young girl. I then photographed the ice sculpture to create my own mysterious version of the constellation.
