Although I have published articles and taught courses on photo history for many years, my actual work as a photographer is relatively recent. Seven years ago I received a grant from the Mellon Foundation to take a series of workshops on photo processes in support of my teaching of the history of photography.
Although I entered this process as an art historian, I emerged on the other side completely hooked on making my own photographs.
