For these images I was playing with the idea of photographing darkness and replicating the quality of moonlight. The films that I mentioned earlier instilled a heavy influence on these photographs. They are constantly dazzling, overwhelming me with lights and smoke and sound—I just loved the aesthetic and wanted to create something reminiscent of it. They started as entries for a photographic scavenger hunt. The premise was that they guys running the competition gave you twenty ‘things’ to interpret, and I let them guide most of this series. I’ve yet to collect all the photographs I need.
