Rainy Day

I would say that I specialize in “Conceptual Portraiture.” To me, conceptual portraiture is portraiture that conveys an idea or a story. I feel that I specialize in telling stories with my images, and making people want to know more about each photo.

At the same time, however, I try to be technically sound in my work so that viewers are not only engaged by the story I am telling, but are also able to enjoy a visually appealing photograph with great colors and detail.

I think my best advice for anyone interested in conceptual portraiture would be to keep an idea notebook. I’m convinced that everybody has great ideas, but not everyone pursues them. Write down your craziest ideas, even if you don’t know how to make them work in a photo because some day you will see a prop, meet a model, or find a location that will fit your concept perfectly.
