Both projects, 'A Thousand Souls' and 'Bypassing the Rational' began in the post-Impressionist room at the National Gallery in London. The pieces were so powerful with just a few splotches of color, with hardly any detail. Our imaginations, our minds put together the rest. Deeply tied into the aesthetic choices are ideas of identity, memory, dreams, nightmares, fear and beauty. I believe there are many facets to each personality and we all have the capacity to be kind and calm as well as cruel and horrible. There is a dark side to everything. With each subject, we explore these ideas and look for ways to convey the fear or enchantment a face or body movement can inspire.
