I am currently living just off photography. It takes a LOT of photography to be able to do it, especially in cities where the fashion industry isn't really established. You have to be passionate about what you do, and determinated to work hard. It really does help though, to be an assistant first, because in that way, you can make connections, and later on when you're ready to be on your own, it's easier to get work. It's also good to have a mentor, someone that you can "study", and see how they do things. You learn a lot that way. At the moment I'm working with Lilac Lingerie, boutique in Ottawa, 53 Karat, hair salon in Gatineau, Quebec, Models International Management and Angie's Models, Modeling agencies in Ottawa, and a lot of models. I plan to continue doing fashion and beauty photography and to get more and more successful. I'd love to have the chance to shoot for big clothing brands and prestigious high fashion magazines!
