On many of my shoots, like this fashion submission, I use a full team. It's a mixed blessing. I usually take better photos when we do hair, makeup and clothing for the model instead of her doing it herself, but it's not necessarily more fun to have all those people around. Everything takes so long... You sort of lose the ability to just keep moving. So a lot of times I'd rather just work with the model and leave behind all the pomp and circumstance.

My real passion isn't fashion photography. A lot of times I don't "get" fashion. I prefer shooting music artists. I'm able to make a connection with artists pretty quickly whether they are new or established and I seldom have a bad experience shooting any artist. It's fun when I get a chance to follow an artist for the day. I can produce some really strong stuff, but it's rather easy and not much of a challenge. How hard is it to take a picture of something that is happening right in front of you? I shoot in the studio a lot, and that is much harder. It's just me, the artist and a white backdrop. It's up to me to create a shot. Not everyone can do that.
