I started to work with Kiki, the dancer, in a plain white room and asked her to move around. trying to make her body more sculptural I told her to hold the light herself to play with light and shadow.

Something wonderful began: as she started to move, she took the light above her head and it seemed to me that the sun rose in the east. She lay down on the floor and the light flew around her body like honey. When she sat beside the light it looked like a prayer. So the light became her intimate companion for a couple of minutes.

I could not control the light. I just had to catch the moment. So the pictures show more than just a perfect body. They show the way Kiki wanted to expose herself to the light.
