I
started out trying to be a street photographer... but I really just
consider myself as a photographer, period. I just happened to shoot in
the streets. In addition to trying to capture those interesting
everyday moments that would have otherwise gone unnoticed, I also like
taking intimate close up portraits of strangers I see in the streets,
those who have striking faces, ones that you can stare at for hours.
Ultimately, I'd like to be a portraitist where you capture the essence
of your subject in just one frame. The first time I saw street photography, I knew immediately that's what I wanted to do and be good at. I always figured that it was these special everyday moments that would make a good photograph. Eventually, in the numerous hours that I've spent in the streets looking for that perfect photographic moment, I would occasionally come across characters with faces that just struck me with interest... faces that I know would make a good portrait. Eventually, I shifted my focus and started to get really interested in doing portraits. I realized that a good portrait, no matter how subtle its aesthetic is, could be even more powerful than the most active street photograph. |
