Who or what I want to photograph I donīt know, I have a thousand new ideas every day and too little time. I certainly want to photograph addicted people as movie stars, but that is for next year. I know that I donīt like shooting famous people, they have too many demands and limitations because of contracts, ego and image. Maybe it sounds a bit vague, but I get really excited and inspired by reading old Biblical stories and Myths and comparing them with everyday life. I realized that the Big Themes (love, religion, class) in the ancient world donīt differ that much from the Big themes of today.

For this story I wanted to portray a modern woman, in an existing environment so beautiful it resembles Paradise. But there is something wrong with her. She isnīt happy, she is a Modern Eve. Because it is my opinion that we still live in paradise, or could if we werenīt distracted by inhibiting, castrating opinions from ourselves and others about how we should live or what we should achieve. Paradise isnīt about a beautiful place with nice trees and wonderful fruit, it represents shameless freedom. And freedom is lacking in our society. I donīt mean freedom as free from work, property and obligations, but I mean inner freedom. Free from judgment, free from assumptions, free from opinions about how someone should or shouldnīt live.

Never listen to any other voice than your own, except for a very select group of intelligent, inspiring, non-selfish people. People only want to hear themselves speak when they give their opinion. Very seldom itīs about you.

Personal growth (in personal or professional life) isnīt about finding a version of you that suits the millions of people that walk around this planet, itīs about respecting all people and their opinions for what they are and are not, and finding your true self in the center of that.
