I've
always been interested in the arts. I've used traditional medium since
I can remember. It was not until I was a senior in high school that I
picked up a camera, shooting B&W 35mm film on a pentax K1000 and a
Canon Rebel, processing my own film in the tiny dark room of
Chittenango High school. I just seemed to have a niche for it. Before I picked up the camera I thought I was going to study law enforcement (since I had no clear direction in the arts). Then my photo teacher, Kristan Brinley encouraged me to look further into photo schools. Two months later I was starting my freshman year at college for photography at Onondaga Community College (OCC) In Syracuse, NY. There I learned a lot, just understanding light was what intrigued me. At OCC I Met my mentor and now very close friend, Nick Todisco. Nick is a painter and retired teacher still teaching for the joy of it. He helped me take direction in what I wanted to do, but also helped me in all aspects of life. He's easily one of the most selfless humans on the face of the planet. |
