What do your parents think about your art?

They're far from my art, they're simple people. I respect them and we share other things together.

Is photography the main part of your life? Or is it, as we say “for your soul”?

Through the photography I meet people, find something to do, find love, travel, make a little money, so I can say it's my life. I live inside photography even if some days I think all that is bullshit! Distance with things is important, no?

One question about technique, what cameras and films do you use? What is your technical process for making a picture?

I'm like a clock, regularly I make only 12 or 13 pictures per year! No more, I have tried to have more ideas, no, nothing else, only stupid ideas come into my head so 12 pictures and I'm happy. It's difficult to change who we are, our real nature, and I'm like that.

I use Ilford 125 black and white and a 6x6 Kiev 60 TTL. Very heavy but unbreakable. I should add that I never use artificial light, I have “poor technique” far from the contempory esthetic. For a shoot I use only one roll of 12 frames, it's like a challenge. If I don't find a solution that means my idea was not ready. So I look very carefully at the model, I count my frames, I must resolve the problem 4,3,2,1 finish.

What is your position and opinion about different genres in photography? Fashion for example?

No genres, I don't care, I just want something good, there are wonderful fashion photographers like Paoli Roversi, Lindbergh in documentary Raymond Depardon has a great talent... we can find those in many categories, the most important is the talent.
