I also found a website called Model Mayhem, which is a networking site for photographers, make-up artists, models and other creatives. You can put out a casting call for people needed on a shoot and people who are interested reply and you arrange a shoot. This site has been invaluable while trying to build my portfolio. I would recommend this to any new photographer. Without a portfolio of images, modeling agencies wouldn't really look twice at me to test with their models but one had faith in me and for this I will always be grateful.
