My theory is that it's not just about
"kool retro stuff" but that there is a basic human need for
haptical objects. Especially referring to music, our listening
habits changed so much. Do you remember how much time it took to
record a mixtape? I don't want to judge digital music culture or the
newest touchscreen technologies, it's just a difference if you have
to learn how the interface of an iphone is working, in order to
adjust the volume of the sound or just grab the biggest knob on your
old receiver.
