Parallel to the snapshot type of daily photography I do, I've started working on more 'composed' projects. They're still very personal and intimate (I use no team, no artificial lighting or sets) but a bit more directed when it comes to working with my models.

I recently acquired an old medium-format Mamiya camera, and use it to shoot this type of work. The weight of that camera automatically creates a different mood when the shooting begins, it's not as discreet as a 35mm, so I get very different results, in terms of image quality as well as behavior from myself and the person I am shooting. I like the sense of awkwardness that seems to seep into the final images, since it all seems more 'professional' and daunting for both the model and me.
