I've always loved the water and I have been scuba certified since I was 17. The last few years I haven't been diving at all, then all of a sudden this summer I thought it would be a good idea to try an underwater fashion shoot. After doing my first underwater shoot with an old manual film camera, I fell in love with it and I've been trying to set up as many underwater shoots as possible. The photos within this story all came from one photo shoot. After my first fashion underwater shoot I immediately started getting a team together for a bigger, more conceptual shoot. I teamed up with Christin Cook for the make-up and with fashion designer Becca Lanka to custom design clothes and do the styling for the shoot. Out of this collaboration a high fashion circus underwater concept was born. This was one of the most elaborate shoots I've ever done. Simply adding water into the mix of a conceptual fashion shoot creates all sorts of small problems to be solved, but it also inspires a lot of ideas that you wouldn't normally think of for a dry photo shoot. |
