These pictures are from a series of underwater nudes I've been doing for the past couple of years. I got interested in shooting underwater because of the great freedom of movement you get in a gravity-free environment. Besides, you get to hang out at the pool all day with a bunch of really good-looking naked people. Life could be worse. I use an underwater housing and sit on the bottom of the pool holding my breath with a twenty pound weight belt keeping me down. No artificial lighting of any kind – occasionally I'll flag off part of the pool to create a shadow, but that's it; all very low tech. Of course I retouch everything halfway to death; underwater, you really have to.
