I've always enjoyed taking photographs. I only realised that it was something that I wanted to do seriously when I got my first digital camera. I liked using film but was always put off by the randomness of it (and the expense). There were many occasions with film when I thought I'd taken some great pictures only to be disappointed when they were developed.

The instant nature of digital photography immediately appealed to me. The ability to see and judge the image straight away and then adjust it (or abandon it!) if necessary seemed to suit my brain and creativity better. Of course being able to shoot endlessly at very little expense was also very important. I'm self taught and realise that I still have a lot to learn.
