"I
have a technical photography background from Brooks, conceptual
background in fine art from Kansas City Art Institute, and a MA from
New York University. Guitar and voice have been in my background at one
point or another along the line. I left photography in 1995, for a
painting scholarship and Photoshop led me to back to photography in
2001. So where am I now? A good place. I've dabbled in various
media
which allows me to better understand myself, art directors, musicians,
models, set builders, etc.
"My subjects' expressions and attitude play a key role in my photographs. Where do I get my inspiration from? I get inspired from anything and everything. From a surreal large family gathering to an fine art exhibit. "Heroes of mine include Barack Obama, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Annie Leibowitz, and Steven Meisel." This was shot for a fashion magazine in Spain: NEO2. It's part of a series called "Rocky Stardust": fusion between aesthetics: Ziggy Stardust and The Rocky Picture Horror Show. This series was rewarded with the highest prize in 2007 for Fashion Photography by the Professional Photographers' Association in Spain. |
