The
Penniless Fashionista is a women’s apparel company started by myself
(Alecia Ebbels) and my business partner Brieanna Soo.
We met at school where we were completing our Degree in Fashion Design and Technology. Since we survived four years of school together, we figured that we would be able to take on any challenges that were presented to us in the ‘real world’. After graduating and working in the industry for a while, we realized that we didn’t want to work for somebody else’s design company. We felt that it would suck out all of our creativity, for little pay and no recognition. We didn’t want to work for the man; we wanted to be the Man (or WO-man rather). You never know your full potential unless you take that risk, and that’s how we became ‘the Man’.
