When I was 9 and on holiday with my parents in Jersey I pleaded with my dad to buy me a camera. It was one of those cameras that you pointed at people who were only 3 metres away but in the actual photograph they appeared a dot on the horizon! Anyway I always took photos wherever I went. Once dad realised how keen I was he allowed me to use his Olympus which was a vast improvement on the cheap plastic one I had been using! I did a photography O-level and an Art A-level in 2 terms and got an A in both but my love at the time was show jumping horses so I continued this career full time for a few years overseas being based in Switzerland and traveling throughout Europe. Later, having been headhunted I moved to New Zealand and then Australia. At 22 (suffering from ill health) I decided to return to the UK and study photography at PCAD in my local town of Plymouth and get my health sorted. I did a 2 year National Diploma in photography followed by a Higher National Diploma and a PQE. During my HND I was based mostly in London as was being commissioned for fashion shoots for magazines and agencies. |
