Over numerous trips to rural Maryland, I have amassed a large number of images documenting both the preservation and decay of the area around Port Deposit. I am drawn back to the area for its endless barns, houses, long-closed gas stations and more barns- a living history of development over the last 200 years is on display within a few miles.

Each time I go back, I uncover another little spot, or item that I had missed on a previous trip. This area on a cloudy day is very reminiscent of the movie “Sleepy Hollow” with its little lanes, curious inhabitants and big stone barns. I don’t think that I will ever tire of making the trip.
